I might run a 3.3 with the TBI setup and maybe get a stronger fuel pump and larger injector to feed it.

That's like only letting a hot girl blow you, when you could have had the chance to take care of all of it. Besides, at the cost of junkyard MPFI junk TBI is weak.

I rather worry about one injector failing instead of six. I rather have a simplified wiring harness. I rather not have to run four O2 sensors. The modest gain in Hp will not really be missed, since it will be slow. I plan on running aftermarket cams in whatever I end up using anyway. It will mostly be trailered instead of run on the highway to wheeling locations.

Sounds like a cop out but seriously I want to put the thing together and wheel it. I don't want to spend forever messing with engine/computer BS.

Yeah, probably best for a beater trailered rig. Though I would recommend wiring up a cheapie one wire O2 as the ECU will run in closed loop most older pre-OBD/OBD0 freak out until they figure out it is not there.

I think that you thought that I wasn't going to run O2 sensors? Not the case, the old TBI system only uses one (instead of four). I haven't looked under that Pathy yet but I would suspect that it is a heated O2 since it is located so far back in the exhaust stream.

On my 86 TBI it was not heated...Most pre 90's are not heated BUT they were all located in the exhaust manifold. If it is further back you need heated.

It should be right after the Y pipe, before the cat.

Very much so, since we have been debating the merits of different VG blocks for this entire thread.

You could still run the O2 sensor in a NON TBI manifold off one bank and stay away from heated. You would only be reading the exhaust from one bank...but with TBI who cares.

I suppose I could, but then I don't see the point of running it in a manner other than what was intended since the computer is setup to take into account the position of the O2.

Either way it will be a while before I get an engine (unless I find a scream of a deal) since the AZ run is just around the corner now.

I decided to sell this piece. I need to de-clutter and having this around is not helping. Posted up, a couple nibbles today already. Hope to have it gone soon.

Yes, this means the Frontier is getting closer to being a SAS trail rig...

It was a neat truck - but I totally understand having too many projects around and just needing to dump something

It is going to end up being a matter of space. With the Frontier the way that it is, I just need to build it further and keep wheeling it. Along side that I need to get something nice. I have a new work truck coming in late April but seriously it's a work truck.
