 Post subject: Finally Killed a Dewalt Angle Grinder...

...or not. Today when I went to use it she fired up and shut down immediately. Upon dis-assembly I found that the brushes were done. They actually have a little spring-loaded thing inside the brush that "pops" the brush away from the commutator when they get worn too thin. Guessing that prevents weak spring tension from burning the commutator.

Ordered two sets of brushes off Amazon but in the mean time have to rely on a backup cheapo Bosch 6.0A unit. Hopefully I don't kill that one, I was getting some real work done and have a lot of days off coming up here soon.

So K eith, after seven+ years of use my $70 Dewalt finally quit. That's a lot better than the 25 minutes my last and only Harbor Freight grinder lasted!
