Figured that I might as well start a build thread. May need it for insurance later

I haven't gotten much done at this point. Most people who put full width axles under a sami are building tube buggys.

I picked up YJ leaf springs for the front, and am waiting on the revolver shackles. I hope to get the front axle installed in the next few weeks.

I am still indecisive about the rear suspension. Leaf springs would be the easiest, but a 4 link really doesn't look that difficult. I will probably not make up my mind until the front is in.

I also need to convert my rear Ferd dana 60 to disc brakes, and match the lug pattern of my chevy front.

Well, work has gotten in the way of everything I had planned this week. I have found my front axle from an LSJC member, but will not be able to pick it up until this weekend. I have ordered parts, and am anxiously awaiting their arrival

Waiting on:
8 Johnny joints and tube inserts - Fawking Expensive!!

YJ shackles

New rectifier for my plasma

I am going to mock up the suspension on the stock axles just for a practice run. It will also be a few months until I can afford all of the parts I need to build the 60's.

I WILL have the fuel tank pulled this week. It is leaking, and the smell in my garage is not good.

Haven't updated in 6 months

I got the 60's under the sammy, and immediately realized that I had made a mistake. 67" wide axles were just too much. Not to mention that they added almost 600 lbs to the damn thing

I sold the front axle for a good profit. The guy that bought it thought the truss and spray paint added significantly to the value

My yota axles will be here on Saturday, and I hope to have it rolling in a few weeks. I still have not figured out power steering, and may have to cobble a full hydro setup together.

The wheelbase ended up being 96 inches. I am not unhappy with that at all. I still have lots of cutting to do, and still need to rebuild my transfer case. I have the parts to convert it to a 6.5 to 1, but just haven't found the balls to crack it open yet.

I'll get some pics up this week.

Removed the gas tank today. That was a pain in the ass. I am VERY glad that I do not have to reinstall it. It had a very slow leak, and I should have cut it out months ago.

A friend is coming over Sunday to help me lengthen the front frame 10". I do not feel comfortable welding such an important part, and this guy TIG's for a living.

Axles will be here at noon tomorrow 8)

Pulling the tank sucked.

Draining 5 gallons of rusty gas sucked also.
