Justin, Barthalamule or anyone please HELP ;)

OK, installed my D44 with some buds help. The guy that built the axle gave me the donor shaft for the 44

However the shaft was way short. The current shaft fits but with only about 1/2" of compression.

I am heading to Moab Friday the 21st and need resolve. I am told I can use a front shaft with a SYE but don't really want to buy as I only have 3"lift.

in Waco I have no solutions... can you suggest anything?

Thanks in Advance,
Roger

Could we cut out part of one of the shafts and weld it back together? Maybe pics would help too

Roger,
I'm guessing since you didn't call back that the strange feeling is gone?

Nope still have the pop / release but spoke with Rich in Flatonia... he saw my post.

He said it's Normal but does get a lot less. I guess I will wait and see.

I will go to a SYE and replacement shaft when I get back from Moab!

Breasts are great!! After all, you can't motorboat a personality.
Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

Barthalamule, the guy that built my D44 gave me the axle that he said came off the donor XJ he got the axle off.
We replaced the axle and the donor shaft was at least 5" short. So we put in the axle already in my Heep with the D35.

It works but at the slip end of the transferase I only have 3/4 to 1" of compression.

I know I should have the shaft cut and balanced but... I head to Moab on Friday and when I return I'll but a SYE and replacement axle.

I hope I don't destroy anything in Moab ;) I am trailering but still don't want to destroy anything.

The D44 has an Aussie locker and at higher than say 30mph I get a loud noise like something releaseing or locking every couple hundred yards. It's in straight line driving on the road. Under 30 I don't get it.

Rich is saying his Aussie does that too... get less as time goes on...

What do you think???

I personally think that if you are driving in a straight line the Aussie shouldn't come into play..... so if it is making noises I'm thinking something is not right..... I would expect to only hear noise if you are turning and it is trying to keep from engaging.

May want to call Aussie and just ask them.....

I was reading some forums and although the sounds appear common, I did read a theme where cheap oil used seemed to enhanced the noise.... maybe you could do an oil change if its been a while and put some good stuff in there.... if its not already.
